1945 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-005

Description

DDO-005 on the 1945-P Washington Quarter was struck in 90% silver at the Philadelphia Mint during the final year of World War II. Catalogued by VarietyVista under die pair UVC-0521, DMR-006, the obverse exhibits a medium spread on the date and IN GOD WE TRUST, with a light spread on LIBERTY. Die state progression covers three documented stages: Stage A is Early Die State. Stage B advances to a Late Die State defined on the obverse by a die crack down the eagle's right wing, and a concurrent die crack on the wing under AMER that extends to the lower F of OF — cracking across two distinct wing areas simultaneously. Stage C advances the obverse to Late Die State.
