Description

Featuring a P/P West displacement, this 1945-P wartime silver Jefferson Nickel documented by VarietyVista records a reverse die change mid-service, making it notable for die pair tracking. Die markers span two pairs: UVC-548 / DMR-095 covering Stage A and UVC-202 / DMR-012 covering Stages B-C. Stage A with reverse at EDS and a die crack from the collar east to the rim at K-5:20 at LDS; Stage B with reverse at MDS and a fresh obverse die at MDS; Stage C with reverse and obverse at LDS. The mid-production obverse die change is evidenced by the shift from DMR-095 to DMR-012. Composed of 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm, the 1945-P was the final year of wartime silver nickel production at Philadelphia.
