Description
The 1945 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1945 (P) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: Slanted die scratch below RT of LIBERTY; die scratch in field above top of Jefferson's head at 11:00. Reverse: Die scratches between L and O of MONTICELLO; die scratches above right arch. Cross-referenced as CONECA 1-O-V, RPM#17.
