1945-D Doubled Die Obverse DDO-008

Description

Struck in the wartime 90% silver composition, the 1945-D DDO-008 Washington quarter displays light spread on the date, IN GOD WE TRUST, and LIBER of LIBERTY. The selective doubling on only a portion of LIBERTY — the first five of seven letters — suggests the hub displacement axis produced visible separation primarily across the left and center of the legend while the rightmost letters fell near the neutral zone where primary and secondary images converge. Cataloged under UVC-0554 / DMR-010 by VarietyVista, die stages move from Early Die State (Stage A, unconfirmed) through Mid Die State (Stage B, unconfirmed) to Late Die State (Stage C, both obverse and reverse).
