1944 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-013

Description

1944-D WRPM-013 is a repunched mint mark on the 1944-D wartime silver-alloy Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The secondary D is tilted (rotated) relative to the primary (D/D Tilted (Rotated)). On the obverse, a die crack runs through Jefferson's hair and toward the rim, and master die doubling is present on TRUST and LIBERTY. On the reverse, a die gouge sits under the left side of the E in E PLURIBUS; die cracks run along the lower left base, from the left base to the rim, and from the upper left of Monticello to the rim; another crack climbs north through the building to the dome's top; and there are die cracks on the upper left and right sides of the building. Jim Shriver submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #12.
