1944 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-011

Description

1944-D WRPM-011 is a repunched mint mark on the 1944-D wartime silver-alloy Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The secondary D is tilted (rotated) relative to the primary (D/D Tilted (Rotated)). On the obverse, extremely minor Class II doubling shows on IN alone. A die crack runs SE from the rim at 11:30 through the head, and a gouge sits under the D in GOD, toward its right side. On the reverse, E PLURIBUS UNUM has extremely minor Class II doubling. A scratch heads SW off the M in MONTICELLO; short NW/SE scratches lie above FIVE; on the pediment, right of its semicircle window, are scratches running east-west to NW/SE; and a NNW/SSE scratch sits at the left end of the steps.
