This variety was discovered on the 1944 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: UVC-521 DMR-020 Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed) Stage B: Die crack lower Right building to rim – MDS Die crack from Right dome to pillar # 3 Obverse is MDS Stage C: Die crack from rim through the Left leg of the first U of UNUM through dome to pillar # 3 – LMDS Obverse is LMDS Stage D: LDS (unconfirmed).
