This variety was discovered on the 1944 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: UVC-184 DMR-012 Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed) Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed) Stage C: Numerous die scratches North-South on Reverse – LDS Die crack from Right dome South between pillar # 3 and # 4 to steps Die crack across upper hair onto forehead above eye – LDS UVC-517 DMR-019 Stage D: Die crack from mintmark North to rim through Left leg of the 2nd U of PLURIBUS – LDS Obverse die changed – MDS.
