Error
Description
Struck at the San Francisco Mint in the wartime silver alloy, this 1943-S Jefferson Nickel RPM-009 was documented by VarietyVista. Die markers UVC-143 / DMR-010: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C with a die crack from the right dome south between pillar #3 and #4 at LDS and obverse at LDS. The die crack between specific Monticello pillars documents advanced structural fatigue in a precisely located architectural area. Composed of 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm, the 1943-S features the oversized S above Monticello's dome, following the large-mintmark convention established in 1942 across all three wartime mint facilities.
