The 1943-S Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-005 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1943 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: Short die scratch from top left side of U of TRUST; two long die scratches in field just in back of Jeffersons head. Reverse: Short die crack extending north from top of roof below dome.
