Description
The 1943 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-014 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1943 (P) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: Die gouge, in field, to left of Jefferson's forehead; slanted die crack in Jefferson's hair at the top of his head that extends to the rim; Reverse: Die dot below B of PLURIBUS; possible RPM P/P west.
