Description
1942-D WDDO-011 is a doubled die obverse on the 1942-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Below LIBERTY's L there is an extra bar. Obverse: a series of dots above LIBERTY's B and ER and NE of its Y; a scratch heading SW from the back of the head; and two dots left of TRUST's U. Reverse: a gouge right of the top of ONE's N; a short scratch running south from the lower curve of CENT's C; an area of die damage above the second S of STATES; a strong gouge right of the lower left crossbar of AMERICA's M, and a small gouge running north from that M's upper right corner; and a curved scratch through the top of AMERICA's C. Daniel Griffin submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
