Obverse: Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is an RPM listed in the Wexler RPM Files as 1942-D 1¢ WRPM-008. Stage A: Numerous irregular die gouges are present across the cheek, jaw, neck, and shoulder. A horizontal die scratch runs to the right of the D in GOD. Two, mostly horizontal die scratches run above the letters UST in TRUST. A strong, curving die scratch runs mostly southeast from Lincoln’s front hair curl. Stage B: All Stage A markers are still visible but weaker. A die scratch runs from Lincoln’s upper hair to the rim, left of O in GOD. A series of die scratches run mostly southeast from Lincoln’s front hair curl after abrasion. Stage C: All Stage A markers are still weakly visible. Stage D: All Stage A markers are extremely weak. Reverse: Stage A: A series of die scratches can be found between the C of CENT and the second T of STATES. A long die scratch can be found between the E and S of STATES. Stage B: All Stage A markers are still visible but weaker. A light die scratch runs left of the left wheat tip near the rim. Stage C: All Stage A markers are visible but weaker. A series of vertical die scratches show around the right wheat tip. Stage D: All Stage A markers are extremely weak. The die scratches through the T in CENT and at the right wheat tip are worn away. Light diagonal die scratches run NE to SW through UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the lower wheats.
