1935 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-005

Description

1935-D WRPM-005 is a repunched mint mark on the 1935-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D West, with the secondary D west of the primary. Obverse Stage A shows a full vertical secondary mint mark and a scratch heading WNW off the S of TRUST from its upper left curve. On Stage B half of the secondary remains, the Stage A marker has been abraded away, and circulation hides any other markers. By Stage C just a remnant of the secondary is left, and again no markers are visible because of circulation. Reverse Stage A has a WSW/ENE scratch linking the E and D of UNITED. For Reverse Stages B and C nothing was visible on the circulated coins examined, and Wexler asks for better examples. Lloyd Hanson submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #5; the Coppercoins number is 1935D-1MM-005.
