1935 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

1935-D WRPM-002 is a repunched mint mark on the 1935-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D/D North and Northeast: two secondary D punches, one north and one northeast of the primary. Obverse Stage A: a scratch from GOD's D north to the rim; a vertical scratch inside that D, nearer its right side; a scratch from the D's bottom center south to the head; heavy north-south scratches from the 19 of the date through the vest; one scratch heading S by E and two heading south from the 3 into the field; and a strong secondary mint mark that shows the NE secondary. On Stage B the scratches are weaker, only one southward scratch remains from each of the 9 and the 3, and the NE secondary inside the primary mint mark is very weak. On Stage C only the north secondary remains, the scratch running rimward from GOD's D is weak, and all other scratches are gone. Reverse Stage A: a strong scratch linking the right dot between PLURIBUS and UNUM with the E of ONE, and a NNW/SSE scratch through AMERICA's C. On Stage B the scratch from the dot is weaker and the one at the C remains. On Stage C the dot scratch has been abraded away and the C scratch is still there but weak.
