Error
Description
An S/S East variety from the San Francisco Mint, this 1930-S Lincoln Wheat Cent RPM-006 was documented by VarietyVista and awaits specimen submission for new color photos and die stage information. Die markers UVC-1189 / DMR-009: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with obverse and reverse at MDS; Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). The eastward displacement indicates the initial S was placed slightly west of the intended position before a corrective second punch. Struck in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the 1930-S had a mintage of approximately 24.3 million pieces during the early Depression. Victor David Brenner's obverse and wheat ears reverse were in their third decade, and each working die received its S through manual punch application.
