Description
Entered in the Wexler RPM Files under 1930-S 1¢ WRPM-008, with reference photography by John Bordner, this repunched mintmark variety was struck at the San Francisco Mint on a Lincoln Wheat Cent from 1930. The RPM collecting discipline within the Lincoln cent series is well-developed, with the Wexler RPM Files providing the primary reference catalog and numbered entries for each documented secondary punch impression. WRPM-008's position in the sequence — past WRPM-006 but with gaps reflecting other catalog entries — indicates that researchers identified and documented multiple separate die configurations for 1930-S before assigning this number. Each RPM number corresponds to a unique die: the same physical die used across an entire production run, identifiable by the fixed position and geometry of its mintmark punch impression.
