Description

1923 WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1923 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling takes the form of an extra eyelid lying south of the normal one. Obverse: near the rim, one scratch lies left of the G in GOD and another right of TRUST's second T; circular scratches pass through RTY of LIBERTY; and scratches run ENE from the bowtie toward the chin. Reverse: a scratch heads NNE from the upper right of the second S in STATES; scratches run NE from the C of AMERICA to AT in STATES; and a scratch lies inside the U of UNITED. Daniel Griffin submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
