Description
1913 WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 1913 Type 2 Buffalo nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. Strong extra thickness appears on the feathers, the nostril, the top of the head, the date and LIBERTY. Wexler notes no markers on Obverse Stage A. Under the chin on Obverse Stage B is a strong die clash from E PLURIBUS UNUM; by Obverse Stage C that clash has been abraded away. The reverse is the Type II reverse, and Wexler notes no markers on Reverse Stages A, B or C. Ron Pope submitted the variety, and Wexler's comments note that the photos were taken by Kevin Flynn. CONECA lists it as 1-O-VI, and its Cherrypickers number is FS-05-1913-101 (014.8).
