1886-P VAM-1.5
Error
Description
1886-P VAM-1.5 Closed 6 1.5 III2 1 - C3a (Closed 6) (189) Obverse III2 1 - Normal die of III2 type with closed 6. Upper knob touches lower loop. Some specimens show die chip between loops of first 8 on left side and some show chips in upper loop of 6. Reverse C3a - Normal die of C3 type. DPIS - Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: This is just 1 of "several" die pairs currently being called VAM-1. A good die study should help with that situation. The 1886-P VAM-1.5 should probably not be a VAM-1"anything" as the upper serif of the 1 is slightly doubled on the bottom. It is not too hard to see it on the DMPL example photographed below but it is NOT easy to see on the nice white MS64 example I currently have. NOTE: (This VAM has been certified as both the 1886-P VAM-19 and the 1886-P VAM-26. NOTE:THIS is the same as vam 19EDS!
