1882-S VAM-37A Doubled Date & Cap Top, Concave Obverse, Polished Rev., Gouge Forehead Discovery 2011 Brent Fogelberg (as VAM 1B), rediscovered 2019 by Chris Simpson. III2 24 - C3a (Doubled Date & Cap Top, Concave Obverse, Polished Rev., Gouge Forehead ) (???) Obverse III2 24 - Horizontal die gouge on Liberty forehead on LDS likely caused early die retirement. Reverse C3a - Later polished die with some long vertical polishing lines in field left of upper leaves opposite NIT of left wreath and above LA in right wreath Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Exact same reverse die as used for the 1882-S VAM-38. Die chip on Eagle's right wing occurs on LDS examples and 1882-S VAM-38. Exact same obverse as 1882-S VAM-36, 1882-S VAM-36A,1882-S VAM-37 & 1882-S VAM-37A. 1882-S VAM-37A is the only one with the gouged forehead.
