Description
1882-O VAM-22 Doubled 882 and Reverse Discovered by Richard Deters, December 1976. 22 III2 11 - C3j (Doubled 882 and Reverse) (176) Obverse III2 11 - First 8 doubled slightly at lower left outside of upper loop and right outside of lower loop. Top loop of second 8 doubled at top left and bottom loop doubled on left side and faintly at bottom. 2 doubled all across the very top and right side of lower serif. Reverse C3j- Outer portion doubled with letters doubled outward in a radial direction for UN-ED STATES OF AMERICA, R of DOLLAR, both stars, motto, tip of eagle's right wing, top outside of right wreath. Die over polishing with disconnected leaves in wreath and field showing through eagle's left wing. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: 1882-O VAM-22 and 1882-O VAM-22A are exactly the same die pair. 1882-O VAM-22A has gouges/finger feeder marks coming off the denticles by the eagle's right wing tip (viewers left).
