1879-S VAM-20 Doubled 18 Discovered by Bill Fivaz, March 1977. 20 III2 8 ∙ C3a (Doubled 18) (185) Obverse III2 8 – 1 in date doubled at top left and right of lower crossbar. First 8 doubled to top right of lower loop. Open 9 variety. Reverse C3a – Normal die of C3 type with medium IV S mint mark centered and upright. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: NOTE:If you have or come accross the discovery piece,send to:anacs,Vss or Vam-mysterio for proper attribution purposes and to make sure is not a duplicate of another Vam. This obverse die was used on 1879-S VAM-20, 1879-S VAM-15 & 1879-S VAM-73. I have two coins labeled 1879-S VAM-20 (1 by SEGS & 1 by ANACS)(many years ago) that are now recognized as VAM-73. I suspect VAM-20 was relisted as VAM-73. Brent
