Description
1879-O VAM-38 Doubled 8-9, O/O Left Inside Discovered by Dave Borofski, May 2004. 38 III2 28 ∙ C3m (Doubled 8-9, O/O Left Inside) (176) Obverse III2 28 – Doubled 8-9 in date with 8 doubled at top inside and lower left outside of upper loop. 9 doubled at left outside of upper loop with polishing lines inside lower loop. Reverse C3m – II O mint mark doubled at left inside as shallow vertical bar and set slightly to left. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: The doubling inside the mint mark may be strike doubling. Another specimen showing the doubling seen in the mint mark below also shows identical doubling inside the DO of DOLLAR. The doubling and pile of lines on the 9 are distinct, however. Appears to have the same obverse as the 1879-O VAM-26.
