=1878-P VAM-83 Low 8= Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, December 1965. 83 II/I 11 - B1d (High 1) (180) Obverse II/I 11 -Doubled Liberty shifted left; all letters in E PLURIBUS UNUM doubled. Doubled 1, 2, 5 and 6 stars on left and 1,2,3, and 4 stars on right. 1 in date doubled on right side and set high. First 8 doubled at top right outside and left outside of upper loop and bottom inside of lower loop. 7 doubled slightly on left side of left top serif and right side on left lower serif. Lower part of nostril weak from over polishing. Spike at upper inside of ear. Reverse B1d - Slight overpolish in middle of eagle's wing. DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # B1 reverse VAM that has both an obverse and reverse unique to it. It is very easily identified by the long nock and the dropped first 8 in the date.
