About This Coin
The Nova Eborac Copper Coins group of the Post-1776 Private and Regional Issues (1778-1820) series holds the pieces described below. The Nova Eborac coppers dated 1787 are often called New York coppers, but Crosby notes they were not issued by authority of the state. The obverse has a laureate bust facing right with NOVA EBORAC; the reverse a seated Liberty with the New York shield, an olive branch and a liberty staff, the legend VIRT ET LIB and the date 1787.
