1923 Peace Dollar - Atypical Die Clash ADC-100c-1923-01

Description

ADC-100c-1923-01 is an atypical die clash on a 1923 Peace dollar, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The clash is strong and shows on both the obverse and the reverse. On the obverse, the sun's rays from the reverse left clash marks; one single ray clashed above the W of WE, and another ray left a mark at the nape of Liberty's neck. The olive branch left marks as well, and a second look turned up more marks from the sun's rays inside Liberty's hair. The reverse marks are more varied. The top of Liberty's head cuts across the olive branch. Her hair behind the ear left the mark over the DO of DOLLAR, and her hair bun made the mark over the LA. Further marks come from her flowing hair, from her forehead and nose, from the lower lock of the flowing hair, and from her chin and throat. The die is attributed as 1923P VAM 1AH.
