Description

Doubling shows at the base of the 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th vertical stripes on the middle portion of the shield. Die Markers: Obverse: Die gouges (dots) show inside and SSW of the 0 in the date. A die gouge (dot) shows to the right of the upper second 2 in the date. A die gouge (dot) shows to the right of the upper E in WE. A die gouge (dot) shows below and between the letters T and R in TRUST. A die gouge shows well below and between the letters S and T in TRUST. Die cracks show on Lincoln’s forehead and above his eye. Reverse: A light die crack shows on the upper left edge of the shield. A strong die gouge shows on the upper right edge of the shield above the left edge of the M in UNUM. A die gouge (dot) shows in the field below the E in STATES. A die gouge shows on the central left edge of shield stripe #1. A die gouge shows on the lower outer edge of shield stripe #13. A die gouge shows on the lower right edge of the bottom of the shield, left of the JFM initials.
