2023 (P) Jovita Idar Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-004

Description

2023-P JI WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 2023-P Jovita Idar quarter (American Women series), cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling to the NW shows on the lower hair detail. Obverse markers: many small cracks and chips on and under the eye, on the nose, on the jaw, and on the ponytail to the right of IN GOD WE TRUST; two small gouges on the neck, to the date's left; a small gouge between the R and U of TRUST; a gouge at the lower left corner of the L in LIBERTY; and a gouge left of the B in LIBERTY. On the reverse, a large crack heads NE from the rim at Idar's hands, and a large retained die break sits between the QUA of QUARTER and the T of TEACHER. There is also a chip on Idar's left eye, numerous north-south cracks on her head and hair (one of them reaching the rim), and a gouge on top of the I in RIGHTS. Ed Stewart submitted the variety.
