Description

Cataloged by VarietyVista with UVC and DMR codes pending assignment (UVC-????, DMR-00?), VDDO-002 on the 2022 Philadelphia Mint Jefferson Nickel documents hub doubling on the obverse of this modern copper-nickel issue. The pending catalog codes indicate this variety was identified but had not yet received final numerical assignments within VarietyVista's classification system at the time of listing. The 2022 Jefferson Nickel features the updated obverse portrait introduced that year, making varieties from this inaugural redesign date particularly significant as first-year documentation of the new design. Hub doubling on the obverse creates secondary impressions on the portrait and legend elements, where the displacement generates recognizable doubled contours. The unassigned UVC and DMR codes reflect the ongoing nature of variety cataloging, where new discoveries receive provisional listings before final numerical assignment within the comprehensive VarietyVista reference system for this Philadelphia circulation strike.
