Description
Bold extra thickness across LIBERTY with pronounced notching on the lower left corners of E-R-T-Y distinguishes this 2021 Lincoln Shield cent variety, attributed by the Wexler Team as WDDO-005. The upper right of the Y appears significantly thicker than adjacent letters, providing a strong pick-up point for cherry-pickers. Small die gouges inside the lower D in GOD mark the obverse die, while the reverse shows no significant markers. Submitted by Phillip Bonner, this variety exemplifies the kind of bold LIBERTY doubling that collectors prize in the Shield cent series. The notching effect on the letter corners results from the misaligned hub impression creating a stepped profile visible even at moderate magnification, making WDDO-005 one of the more eye-catching obverse doubled dies from the early 2020s.
