Description

A combination variety on the 2021-P Lincoln Shield Cent, SKH-1c-2021-04 documents a spiked head found on the same die as a typical die clash cataloged as TDC-1c-2021-01. The cross-reference to TDC-1c-2021-01 means this coin exhibits two distinct die anomalies simultaneously: a raised metallic projection near Lincoln's portrait from die surface damage, and transferred design elements from a die clash where the obverse and reverse dies struck each other without a planchet. Combination varieties — where multiple error types appear on the same coin — are prized by collectors because they document a working die that experienced more than one type of failure during its service life.
