Description
SKH-1c-2021-01 is a spiked head from the 2021 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent. The submission process that produced this first 2021 catalog entry likely began when an attentive collector spotted the spike on a cent from circulation or a roll, documented it with photographs, and submitted the images and physical coin to Cuds on Coins for review and formal attribution. Once the community knows a particular date is susceptible to spiked head formation, attention intensifies and additional varieties begin surfacing. The 2021 Philadelphia cent followed this pattern, with SKH-01 establishing the beachhead.
