Description

Nineteenth in the VarietyVista series of doubled die reverses documented for the 2019 Jefferson Nickel, this variety shows a light southward spread manifesting as an extra top on the central doorway of Monticello. Cataloged with UVC and DMR numbers pending assignment (UVC-???? and DMR-00?), the variety is documented at Stage A with both reverse and obverse in early die state, while Stages B and C remain unconfirmed. The light southward spread indicates the second hub impression was positioned slightly lower than the first during die sinking, creating a faint shadow of the doorway roofline displaced downward. The 2019 Jefferson Nickel was produced at both Philadelphia and Denver, and the Return to Monticello design introduced in 2006 has proven particularly fertile ground for doubled die variety documentation due to the geometric precision of the building's architectural elements.
