Description

This 2019 Philadelphia Mint Jefferson Nickel carries the VDDR-017 variety doubled die reverse, showing a medium spread directed South that produces an extra left top on the central doorway and an extra bottom triangle on Monticello's facade. Stage A is confirmed in Early Die State. Attributed by VarietyVista. The Monticello reverse, Thomas Jefferson's iconic Virginia estate, has been the standard Jefferson Nickel reverse design since 1938 with a brief interruption for the 2004-2005 Westward Journey series. The southward hub shift means the secondary image displaced downward, creating the extra architectural elements on the building's central entrance. The doorway and triangular pediment above it are finely detailed elements of the Monticello design, making them particularly sensitive to hub doubling and providing clear reference points for variety identification under magnification.
