Description

Documented by VarietyVista, the 2019 VDDR-012 is a Philadelphia Jefferson nickel doubled die reverse displaying light spread to the east as an extra left top central doorway element on Monticello. Confirmed at Early-to-Mid Die State (Stage B), this die saw moderate use before cataloging, and specimens may show slight softening of the secondary image compared to pure Early Die State examples. Light-spread doubling on the Monticello doorway area demands attentive examination, as the secondary line sits close to the primary and can be confused with die deterioration on worn specimens. The doorway top — the lintel or upper frame of the central entrance — is a horizontal element whose doubling appears as a subtle parallel line above or below the original, distinguishable from the vertical doorway-side doubling seen on varieties like the 2016 VDDR-006.
