Description
2018 WDDO-008 is a doubled die obverse on the 2018 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY shows extra thickness; the date shows no doubling. On the obverse, a chip lies above the E of LIBERTY, and a crack leaves the rim between WE's W and E and reaches into the top of the hair. On the reverse, one chip lies below the F of OF and another sits on the lower part of the N in UNUM. Matthew R. Vallee submitted the variety, and the updated photos come from a coin of Steve Young's. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments explain that the die was first described as showing doubling on the date, but closer study found none there.
