Cataloged by MadDieClashes as ADC-25c-2018P-01(MV), this 2018 Philadelphia Washington Quarter from the America the Beautiful series with the Voyageurs National Park reverse displays an atypical die clash with substantial design transfer. The obverse preserves large portions of reverse foliage clashed in front of and through Washington's portrait, creating a dramatic overlay of Minnesota's wilderness scenery. The reverse carries a few light clash marks. Discovered by Robert Washington, this atypical clash differs from standard clashes in the extent and clarity of the transferred elements — rather than faint outline impressions, substantial foliage portions are identifiable on the obverse. The Voyageurs design, featuring a canoeist amid waterways and forests, provided detailed naturalistic elements that transferred with unusual clarity. Atypical clashes on ATB quarters are particularly collectible because each unique reverse design creates a one-time combination with the common Washington obverse, yielding clash patterns that cannot recur on any other issue.
