Description
2017-P DC WDDR-021 is a doubled die reverse on the 2017-P Frederick Douglass National Historic Site quarter (District of Columbia) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Minor doubling shows on the house's right side, between the upper parts of the first and second windows. Obverse Stage A has a shallow die chip on the bust over the left side of QUARTER's E, feeder finger scrapes through LIBERTY's RT, a gouge inside the lower part of DOLLAR's D, and a gouge inside UNITED's U. On Obverse Stage B the chip has developed further, the rest of the Stage A markers may or may not show, and a second chip has formed over the right side of QUARTER's last R. Reverse Stage A has thin NW/SE scratches right of the house and many small gouges under the doubled window. On Reverse Stage B the gouges remain and the scratches may or may not show. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
