Description
2017-P DC WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 2017-P Frederick Douglass National Historic Site quarter (District of Columbia) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling sits inside the first window on the building's right side. Obverse Stage A has a gouge north of the right side of DOLLAR's R. Obverse Stage B keeps it and adds a die chip on the bust over DOLLAR's D and two gouges under LIBERTY's BE; Wexler says the Stage B gouge might or might not appear on earlier stages. Reverse Stage A has no significant markers. Reverse Stage B has a gouge near the house's roof, left of Douglass's head, and a gouge to the left of the chimney; Wexler says these Stage B gouges might or might not appear on earlier stages. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
