Description

2017-P DC WDDR-009 is a doubled die reverse on the 2017-P Frederick Douglass National Historic Site quarter (District of Columbia) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Slight doubling shows on the first window, at its lower right inside. Obverse Stage A has a die chip to the left of the designer's initials. On Obverse Stage B there is a large chip over the designer's initials JF, a chip on the bust over QUARTER's E, a gouge between QUARTER's A and R, and a gouge over the left side of QUARTER's E; Wexler says these Stage B gouges could also exist on earlier stages. Reverse Stage A has no significant markers. Reverse Stage B has a gouge on the table under Douglass's hand and three small gouges left of the designer's initials TRH; again, these could also exist on earlier stages. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
