Description

2016-P KY WDDR-021 is a doubled die reverse on the 2016-P Cumberland Gap National Historical Park quarter (Kentucky) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling shows on the frontiersman's coat fringe, just left of his upper right arm. Obverse markers: NE/SW feeder finger scrapes at the back of the neck and under the ear; weak die trails running N from IN GOD WE TRUST; a short scratch running NW off the top left serif of LIBERTY's T; a gouge touching the upper left side of QUARTER's last R; a gouge right of STATES' last T; and a gouge to the right of the top of IN's N. Reverse markers: NW/SE feeder finger scrapes at the frontiersman's left elbow and in the field to the left of the doubled sleeve; a strong NW/SE scratch through WEST's ST to the background hill; and a gouge right of the bottom of WEST's S. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
