Description
2016-P KY WDDR-017 is a doubled die reverse on the 2016-P Cumberland Gap National Historical Park quarter (Kentucky) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling shows on the frontiersman's coat fringe, just left of his upper right arm. Obverse markers: a gouge right of LIBERTY's Y; a gouge inside UNITED's U; a gouge beside the top of GOD's D, on its left; and gouges on both sides of DOLLAR's R. Reverse markers: at the elbow, a large pre-die break depression accompanied by a few die chips; a weak crack running north from the gun barrel near UNUM's M; and a small gouge under DOORWAY's A. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
