Wexler Variety ID 2015-P 25¢ NC WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse for the 2015-P Blue Ridge Parkway National Park Quarter within the America the Beautiful Quarters program. The Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter, designed by Frank Morris, depicts a stretch of the parkway road with flowering dogwood — a design pairing the built roadway with natural foliage that provides a diverse set of reference points for identifying hub doubling. The DDR classification indicates the hubbing misalignment occurred during the die manufacturing process when the hub impressed its design into the working die at least twice with a slight offset between impressions, creating doubled impressions that would transfer to every coin struck from that die until it was retired from service. This variety is WDDR-001 for North Carolina's Blue Ridge Parkway issue. The 2015-P quarter was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in copper-nickel clad composition (75% copper / 25% nickel outer layers bonded to a pure copper core) at 5.67 grams. The America the Beautiful program, spanning 2010 through 2021, produced five new reverse designs annually through 2020 (one in 2021), each representing a national site from one of the 50 states, districts, or territories — and the rapid turnover of designs meant each reverse saw limited die production compared to standard circulating designs, potentially concentrating doubled die varieties into smaller populations of surviving specimens.
