2014 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DER-004T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Trails on 2014P-1DER-004T come from the LB and JFM initials and from ONE's N and E, and run at 180°, straight down. The code: 2014P for a 2014 Philadelphia striking, 1 for the cent, DER for reverse design extension, 004 for the file, T for trails. Its obverse is the trail die 2014P-1DEO-005T. At the middle die state described, one light crack heads out from the shield's apex into the field and a second from its top left. Vivien Bullard found it. A rotary buff used to polish the die is the cause most often given, though some prefer to explain trails by die movement against the hub.

• Reverse is MDS – a light die crack is seen entering into the field from the apex of the shield. Another die crack is seen entering the field from the upper left edge of the shield.
