2014 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DER-002T Trail Die Reverse

Description

On 2014P-1DER-002T the trails come from the designer's initials LB, those of reverse designer Lyndall Bass, and point to 170°, slightly east of south. TrailDies' code gives the year and Philadelphia mint (2014P), the cent (1), a reverse design extension (DER), file 002 and the T for trails. The coin is a late die state (stage C) with an upside-down Y-shaped crack through WE and into Lincoln's head, and two die chips on the shield's upper left edge. Joe Koelling found the die. As with other trail dies, the lines are usually credited to rotary polishing, and a minority holds that the die moved against the hub.

• Stage “C“, obverse is LDS – an inverted “Y” die crack is seen through the word WE and into Lincoln’s head.
• Reverse is LDS – two die chips are seen in the upper left edge of the shield.
