Description

Just one trail line shows on 2014P-1DEO-004T, leaving the 2 of the date at 200°, south-southwest. The code reads 2014, Philadelphia, cent (1), design extension obverse (DEO), file 004 and T for trails; the P is part of TrailDies' number only, since Philadelphia cents of this date have no mint mark. At the middle die state described, a die crack sits in Lincoln's head below WE, and the reverse has a die chip at the shield's top left. Joe Koelling found it. Polishing the die with a rotary buff is the cause usually cited for trails, while some cite the die moving against the hub.
