2013 (P) Roosevelt Dime - P-10DER-001T Trail Die Reverse

Description

2013P-10DER-001T is a 2013 Philadelphia Roosevelt dime reverse with very strong trails from the tips of the torch flame. In TrailDies' code, 2013P is date and mint and 10 the dime; DER marks the reverse, and 001T the first file with trails. Weaker lines also leave the olive leaves and the bottoms of ES in STATES. The heading gives the direction as 010°, just east of north. A deep scratch or gouge through the upper part of ATES marks the die, and TrailDies adds that the obverse die on its coin was set slightly out of line. Robert Adams III found it. Trails are usually attributed to polishing the die with a rotary tool; some attribute them to die-to-hub movement.
