2013 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

2013 WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 2013 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The lower letters of USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) show strong extra thickness, with the widest spread toward the reverse's right side; the designer's initials LB and JFM are strongly thickened too. The letters of ONE CENT have notches at their lower left corners, and the incuse letters of EPU (E PLURIBUS UNUM) are distorted. Wexler records two stages. The Stage A obverse has a gouge left of the lower U in TRUST and a crack that leaves the eyebrow's front and runs NNW into the front of the forehead; the Stage B obverse is the same as Stage A. On the Stage A reverse, a light crack follows the shield's top left edge. On the Stage B reverse, a few cracks and chips lie along the left part of the shield's top edge. Joseph Koelling submitted Stage A and Dennis C. Wells Stage B. Its Coppercoins number is 2013P-1DR-002, and CONECA lists it as 1-R-VIII.
