2012 (P) Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Quarter - P(HI)-25DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Trails run due east, 090°, toward the right rim, from much of the lettering on 2012P(HI)-25DEO-001T: LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, the mint mark, ER in QUARTER, the D of DOLLAR and ICA in AMERICA. The code gives a 2012 Philadelphia quarter for Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (HI), with 25 for the denomination, DEO for TrailDies' obverse design extension, file 001 and T. The early-die-state coin has no obverse markers; its reverse shows small dimples beneath the letters of VOLCANOES. Jean Lee found the die. Most attribute trails to a rotary tool used to polish the die, though some think the die moved against the hub.

Die Markers

• Stage "A", obverse is EDS – none noted.
• Reverse is EDS – dimples are seen below the letters in the word VOLCANOES.
